Solar Power Scotland Powers Ahead
With government incentives to increase energy efficiency, continued grant support and rising energy prices, Montrose based Solar Power Scotland is set to enjoy another year of economic success. As supplier and installer of highly efficient solar panels that heat household and businesses’ hot water from the sun’s energy, Solar Power Scotland has had ambitious expansion plans over the last year. The company has launched a new product; a heat storage system; taken on five new members of staff to join their engineering and administration teams and has expanded its fleet of vans. Mary Haddick, Managing Director of Solar Power Scotland said: “We’ve strengthened the company to enable us to respond to the changing needs of the renewable energy market and better serve our customers. We want to further increase our business this year by targeting new markets including the public sector and new build housing projects. With energy performance certificates (EPCs) becoming compulsory this June for householders and stamp duty exemptions for zero carbon homes, renewable energy for the new build market looks set to continue to grow. “Energy efficiency is becoming a feature people look for when buying a new house. Inevitably, more homes will require to become energy efficient with government incentives and rising fuel prices, and solar panels and heat storage systems maximise efficiency”, says Mary. “Through our new staff with expertise in the building trade, new partnerships and working with leading UK suppliers, we will make a significant contribution to satisfy and exceed householder’s needs.” The company has attracted attention from Conservative MSP Alex Johnstone, who will meet with the company on Monday 19 February 2007 at 10am. A year on from their previous meeting Alex wants to find out what progress Solar Power Scotland has made and to discuss how government incentives such as grants can help support Solar Power Scotland and similar renewable energy companies.
