Solar Power Scotland Becomes Preferred Solar Partner
21 August 2007

scarf.jpgSolar Power Scotland, based in Montrose, has been chosen out of 34 renewable energy companies and 15 solar UK companies, as one of four preferred suppliers for a new pioneering pilot project covering Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

The project, call ‘Renewables Connection’, the first of its kind North of the Border, has been set up to offer impartial advice to householders, small businesses and public sector organisations to guide them through the increasing range of technologies they could tap into to power homes and other buildings. It is hoped the the project will be rolled out throughout Scotland after its first year.  For full story see our news section.

Research has shown that many organisations and home-owners are interested in installing sustainable technologies to provide their power but fail to proceed because of a lack of impartial information.

The Renewables Connection is managed by SCARF [Save Cash and Reduce Fuel], an organisation set up to promote sustainable use of energy in the North East of Scotland.  Through a competitive tendering process Solar Power Scotland was chosen as a preferred supplier because of the product range and price value that the company offers.

Mary Haddick, Finance Director of Solar Power Scotland says:

“This is a good initiative that is much needed by the North East.  With so much information available, it is hard for customers to know what advice they can trust.  This organisation will ensure that with a strong team of suppliers and good information, customers will be encouraged to adopt renewables at home and at work.”

Renewables Connection staff can help with grant applications, planning applications and securing competitive quotes. They will also give advice on reducing heat demand at a property before any installation goes ahead and support schemes from the idea stage through to completion. A target of 50 installations has been set for the first year, rising to 100 by year-three.
This new, revolutionary technology from Germany can save households and commercial premises up to 60% on oil and gas consumption when used with SPS’s sun stream solar thermal panels for heating water, and any heating system (LPG, wood burning stove, gas boiler) to ensure that far less energy is used.

Mary Haddick, Finance Director of Solar Power Scotland said:  We are looking forward to showcase our new heat storage system at this year’s All Energy Conference, as the market has been waiting for a combined offering that will allow householders and businesses to heat their homes and their water in the most efficient way.  Used with our existing natural water heating products, it will effectively heat homes whilst saving energy and greatly reduce energy bills.

The new heat storage system involves power tanks that can store heat from any natural or man made source until it is ready to be used.  The tanks contain a material that stores energy four times more efficiently than water offering significant savings to householders and businesses.

Mary continues:  “It has been a tremendous year for us with renewable energy becoming such an important concern.  With increased oil and gas prices and the raised awareness to look after our planet, renewable energy is now poised to dominate the oil and gas market.  With this new product and the company’s established foothold in the market, Solar Power Scotland is leading the race in renewable energy in Scotland”.
