"I refer to your letter of 30th September 2009 and to earlier correspondence relating to my application for a grant for the installation of solar panels to be supplied by Solar Power Scotland.
My understanding is that you have been supplied with additional details of the system by Solar Power Application along with my application. You have also dealt with many applications from this company. However I will explain why I chose this system.
1. As an Architect with access to information and knowledge on a wide range of solar panels I fully researched their construction and efficiency prior to choosing the Italian system employed by Solar Power Scotland. The chosen system is by far the most efficient on the market.
2. The stainless steel construction meets the highest standards and complies with the German TUV standard.
3. The system also uses a biodegradable heat transfer fluid based on propylene glycol.
I believe the additional cost of this system is appropriate in terms of the higher efficiancy and thus earlier return on the capital cost.
Your Minister Jim Mather MSP has also stated in a letter to Bill Wilson MSP dated 16 July 2009 " The choice of which technology to install lies with the consumer. They are not obliged to get a second quote, or forced to install a less efficient system.."
